Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy

Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy (UGS) is a specialised non-surgical treatment which targets surface and branch varicosities. While RFA is used to target the larger varicose “trunk” veins, UGS is an effective treatment for targeting the complex and winding branches of veins that feed into the larger trunk veins. The treatment is both safe and effective. During the procedure Dr Zach Kidman and a sonographer will use an ultrasound to identify the veins they wish to target. They then insert sclerosant, a medical solution that foams, into the targeted veins by injection. This then causes the veins to collapse and eventually the veins will be reabsorbed by the body, reducing their appearance.
