Endovenous Laser Ablation

At Delphi Clinic, we provide advanced endovenous laser ablation to treat varicose veins with precision and minimal disruption to your daily life. This safe, non-surgical treatment uses targeted laser energy to close faulty veins, restoring healthy blood flow and improving both comfort and appearance. What is Endovenous Laser Ablation?

This procedure is a minimally invasive treatment for larger varicose veins, particularly the main “trunk” veins that supply smaller surface veins. Under ultrasound guidance, a fine laser fibre is inserted into the affected vein. Laser energy is then delivered directly into the vein wall, heating and damaging it in a controlled way.

This process causes the vein to shrink, collapse, and eventually close completely. Once sealed, the body naturally absorbs the vein over time, and blood is redirected through healthy veins. EVLA is highly effective, provides long-lasting results, and is performed in our clinic without the need for hospital admission.

What to Expect with Your Endovenous Laser Ablation Treatment

Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) is a minimally invasive procedure carried out by our experienced phlebologists to treat problematic veins using precise laser energy.

  • The treatment area will be prepared, and your legs will be cleansed with a sterile solution called Chlorhexidine before being covered with a sterile drape.
  • To ensure your comfort, a local anaesthetic will be administered before a fine laser fibre is inserted into the targeted vein under ultrasound guidance. Once the catheter is positioned correctly, a second tumescent anaesthetic will be applied to numb and cool the area, ensuring you remain pain-free throughout the procedure.
  • Laser energy is then delivered directly into the vein, generating controlled heat that causes the vein walls to collapse and seal shut. Over time, the body naturally absorbs the closed vein, allowing healthy blood flow to be restored and improving the appearance and comfort of your legs.
